El Sur Down Under

Bitch, rant, rave and debate. Minimal moderation. Just try to play nice eh?

Oh, those pictures I printed and taped to my 'wall' ? Others commented favorably. It is nice to see them notice, then a smile, lingering for a moment, then comments about how 'peaceful, calm, wish I were there now, you are so lucky .." I am. :| Reminders. Sometimes I need them.

Blue Moon

Postby Winston Smith on Fri May 08, 2009 2:18 pm

Tonight the moon became a full moon, "100% of full" says my moontracker program. it has a sense of humour hasn't it ?
I enjoy watching the moon wax and wane on my computer screen. Then at night whenever the sky is clear and 'she' is visible I look at her and compare the real thing with the one on my computer screen. I look at the 'sunny' side of it and imagine the sun far away in the west shining over Chile, and also think about many other things. I do this every day, I have been doing it for a long time. I am a moon person rather than a sun or seasons person.
Anyway this is my "farewell to forums and blogs".
All the best to all of you and no hard feelings.
All things good and bad must come to an end and what a mixture of them my life in forumland was.
Honestly I am sad and dissapointed. I lost this war and it is time to desert and say
Farewell

Yes, it does seem to have a sense of humor. :)
The 'sunny' side will always be welcoming. ;)

I do have a sense of humour but sadness and melancholy are also part of me.
David Foster Wallace comitted suicide and so did Nick Drake and many others including Eleonor Rigby. I wonder if Clarice Lispector would have done the same if cancer hadn't ended her life, I think not. There seems to be a price to pay for everything, even for being profound, sensitive, intuitive. The gods are jealous.
If you like "Day is Done", "Fly" is also good. I loaded them into my i-pod.
I was thinking of writing this on my anniversary here but, what the heck, what difference can it make.
well, this forum didn't go far did it? one of countless abandoned forums floating in cyberspace, inhabited by the ghosts of those long gone. Kind of "Mary Celeste"s in cyberspace. However there is an important difference: what caused the Mary Celeste to be abandonded remains mystery, whereas is no mystery why this forum is an empty place.

Day Is Done
When the day is done
Down to earth then sinks the sun
Along with everything that was lost and won
When the day is done

When the day is done
Hope so much your race will be all run
Then you find you jumped the gun
Have to go back where you begun
When the day is done

When the night is cold
Some get by but some get old
Just to show life’s not made of gold
When the night is cold

When the bird has flown
Got no-one to call your own
Got no place to call your home
When the bird has flown

When the game’s been fought
Newspaper blown accross the court
Lost much sooner than you would have thought
Now the game’s been fought

When the party’s through
Seems so very sad for you
Didn’t do the things you meant to do
Now there’s no time to start anew
Now the party’s through

When the day is done
Down to earth then sinks the sun
Along with everything that was lost and won
When the day is done

(Lyrics and music by Nick Drake)

Roman philosopher Seneca said, "Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end" :!:

yesterday it was the shortest day of the year, winter has began in the southern hemisphere.

It's been over year since I have been here. The place is still empty but the Maria Celeste still sails in cyberspace

I'll come aboard next winter solstice if I am alive and this forum is also. Big Ifs
